The Return to Nature collection is created to never end up in landfill, instead it will biodegrade, compost and return to the earth at the end of its useful life nourishing the soil in the process. Responding to our climate crisis, and inspired by a quote from environmentalist Arizona Muse, the project is the result of two years of research and innovation.

The Tote is supple and spacious, featuring signature organisational pockets for your phone, cards and pen. Free from hardware, it features a metal-free closure and an exterior belt to draw the bag closed. Using a new tanning and finishing technique we have created a leather that is chrome, heavy-metal and aldehyde-free and is finished with Activated Silk™ Technology to allow the bag, should you wish, to biodegrade, compost and nourish the soil at the end of its useful life. This means that it could never end up in landfill. The tote can be personalised with up to three initials. This collection supports Dirt, Muse’s foundation for the regeneration of the earth, with £10 from the sale of this bag going to the organisation.

This specially tanned leather is a natural product and as such any imperfections are considered natural features of this material. The leather will age in its own unique way. To keep it protected from rain spots and water marks, and to feed and enhance the leather, it needs a little more love than other bags: please use our specially developed Chambers Wax included with the bag to protect the leather and also to soften any day-to-day scratches or marks.

The leather used in the Return to Nature collection uses a pioneering tanning and finishing method, developed with Nera Tanning and Richard Hoffmans (est. 1899), resulting in a product that is chrome, heavy-metal and aldehyde-free – and thus if desired, they are able to biodegrade at end of life. The skins are sourced from Scan-Hide Swedish farms with some of the highest standards of animal welfare.

If you decide to return, please send it to us within 14 days. Gifts ordered between the 1st November 2021 and 25th December 2021 can be returned up until the 9th January 2022. See our returns page for more information.
